During the Projects Roadshow session of sub-forum Industrial Ecology and Impact Investing, the expert team selected 6 projects out of 31 social influence investment candidate projects for the live roadshow. One of the Roadshow projects, IoT Solutions to Ecological Poultry Farming which conducted by Jiang Tao, CMO of GosuncnWelink Technology Co., Ltd. won high praise from industry experts and investors at home and abroad.

Jiang Tao, CMO of GosuncnWelink presents the IoT Solutions to Ecological Poultry Farming

IoT Solutions to Ecological Poultry Farming is a solution provided by GosuncnWelink which helps one of the Chinese famous e-commerce realized its Targeted Poverty Reduction Projects: farmers can buy 60-days-old baby chickens and feed through bank interest-free loads and equip each and every one of them with a low power consumption ankle-worn bracelet as a step counter. When the number of their steps exceeds 1 million, the e-commerce would buy these chickens at a three times higher than the local market price. Generally, it takes 160 days before a chicken is fully grown and ready for sale. The poultry bought by the e-commerce will be available on its fresh food division ‘E-commerce Fresh’. In this way, the move not only ensures food quality, but also increases farmers’ incomes.

The data shows that the active time period for "sports chicken" is from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and generally reach the peak at noon. One chicken has a maximum of 100,000 steps per day, with an average of 15,000 to 30,000 steps per day. The amount of steps of the chicken (on average) is also correlated with temperature. Every 5,000 plus ‘sports chickens’ can help lift at least 50 householders above the poverty line.

IoT Solutions to Ecological Poultry Farming consists of three basic parts: data acquisition, system transmission and monitoring management which compose a close-loop. Data is collected on a daily basis and transmitted to the backstage through LPWAN communication technology such as LoRa or NB-IoT for performing big data analyses. This can prevent systematic risks from happening beforehand and provide reliable monitoring and computing services.

The whole system adopts ultra-low-power multi-functional IoT sensing detection devices to meet the demand of high-density poultry farming. Ultra large system capacity is also equipped for animal husbandry monitoring and growth process tracking. This is a model that can be directly applied to large-scale poultry farming enterprise. In conformity with government food law and regulations, the model is able to safeguard food safety and reliability.
